North-West firm Glenville Walker is renowned for its specialist business legal services, committed to turning complex legal problems into simple solutions. The firm is highly regarded for inspiring and investing in the next generation through partnerships with universities across Liverpool, seeking individuals who embody Glenville Walker’s ethos. The firm is delighted to announce that their latest trainee, Ruby Briscoe, has qualified as a solicitor, now specialising in Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

Ruby first joined the firm in October 2019 for work experience, and ten months later, she was employed by the firm as a paralegal. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool, Ruby began her LPC while continuing to work at the firm. Glenville Walker admired Ruby’s dedication, attention to detail, and natural tenacity when assisting clients. Her alignment with the firm’s values led to her being offered a training contract in October 2022. With near to 8 years since incorporation, Glenville Walker continues to be committed to supporting the growth and development of their people, allowing them to achieve their goals.

During her time at the firm, Ruby has gained real experience across the full lifecycle of business law, including Corporate, Commercial, Intellectual Property, and Property, before specialising in Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

Under the guidance of Michael Smeaton, Director and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and Anna Salisbury as Partner, Ruby has received exceptional training, knowledge, and experience. Now, as a qualified solicitor, Ruby can take a more hands-on, personalised approach in advising clients and assisting them with their legal issues.

Ruby is particularly proud of her progression to solicitor, having worked her way up within Glenville Walker despite starting with the firm before even completing her degree.

We asked Ruby, what attracted you to Glenville Walker?

She responded, ‘The development they provide to employees. By this I mean that Glenville Walker invests in its people and wants to see each person progress by providing training, mentoring and promotions to reflect the dedication and ability of the person. For my personal journey, I started doing work experience and am now a solicitor. Throughout my time at Glenville Walker, I have been consistently supported which has enabled me to be in the position I am today.

Glenville Walker are solutions driven advisors. We do not dwell on the issues but work with clients to figure out practical solutions that best benefit them and their businesses. For example, if the client’s priority is to limit costs and/or exposure we will offer an approach which meets their priorities. Furthermore, we offer a range of services whether you are a business or individual so if a client owns a business and needs a loan facility, we have the corporate team to assist but if they then have debtors who refuse to pay, we have a litigation department. We always aim to efficiently resolve client queries.’

Anna Salisbury, Partner, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, said, ‘I am delighted that Ruby has qualified into the litigation team. She certainly has all the qualities needed to be an effective and successful litigator and she will be exposed to some exciting and complex litigation cases at Glenville Walker!’

Ruby added, ‘I am excited to see where my journey with Glenville Walker continues to take me. With the guidance of Michael and Anna, I aim to thrive in my role as a Commercial Litigation Solicitor so that we can continue to provide clients with a range of support, and further develop Glenville Walker’s Litigation Department. The next goal is to establish my own client base and develop my ability to solely run files. The eventual goal is to be a Partner but I’m focusing on developing my newly qualified solicitor skills first!’

Congratulations once again, Ruby, on your recent qualification and for playing a vital role in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team.
